Summary

As Christian girls, it's hard to hold on to a sense of who we are in Christ in a world that is constantly telling us who we should be。 But our worth isn't defined by society。 It's defined by our loving God, who made us and calls us his redeemed daughters。 God has a good plan for our beauty, femininity, relationships, and identity and wants to help us thrive in his freeing design。

That's what Kristen Clark and Bethany Beal have been sharing in their popular books, videos, podcast, and blog。 Now they offer this 60-day devotional to help you find your entire identity in Christ。 Beautifully designed and filled with uplifting Scripture, sincere encouragement, questions for reflection, some good laughs, and room to journal, Shine Bright makes a lovely and thoughtful gift--for a friend, a mom, a daughter, or yourself!

Condescending and contradictory。 It's not worth downloading on the apps that have it for free。 I was shocked when I checked their social media after receiving this book。 It's constant talk about masturbation and giving up on dreams while begging for money from teens。 Very strange for grown women。 Condescending and contradictory。 It's not worth downloading on the apps that have it for free。 I was shocked when I checked their social media after receiving this book。 It's constant talk about masturbation and giving up on dreams while begging for money from teens。 Very strange for grown women。 。。。more

Shine Bright is a devotional geared towards teenage girls。 Each day gives a passage of scripture at the beginning, then 2-3 pages of commentary on the related topic。 Additional questions at the end of each chapter help you study more about the topic of the day。 This would be a helpful tool for a girl looking to use during her quiet time, or even for a small group to go through together。I received a copy from the publisher for the purpose of this review。

I am still relatively new to exploring my faith and have found navigating the Bible a little difficult without a plan。 This book helps me focus on one specific topic at a time and guides me to explore each topic in the Word on my own。 I recommend this book to any girl or young woman who needs a place to start in their journey with their faith。 For reference, I am in my mid twenties。

5/5 stars: Highly recommended~I am on Day 4 of 60; I can see myself finishing this easily。In depth。。。-5/5 Aesthetics: Beautiful book to look at with a calming, feminine color scheme。 Visually adorable。 My book came in a box with green confetti, two flower seed packets, and a dried flower plus sticker。 The book actually fits well into most of my purses, which is great as I'll carry it around to read during commuting。 It will fit in a backpack too。 Not too heavy。-5/5 Text: Font is perfect, simple, 5/5 stars: Highly recommended~I am on Day 4 of 60; I can see myself finishing this easily。In depth。。。-5/5 Aesthetics: Beautiful book to look at with a calming, feminine color scheme。 Visually adorable。 My book came in a box with green confetti, two flower seed packets, and a dried flower plus sticker。 The book actually fits well into most of my purses, which is great as I'll carry it around to read during commuting。 It will fit in a backpack too。 Not too heavy。-5/5 Text: Font is perfect, simple, and garnered toward readability。 Good size (not too big or too large)。 I use glasses occasionally and I was able to read this without specks, no squinting or headaches。 -5/5 Organization: Table of Contents is correct。 It is broken up into 60 days with each chapter devoted to one day of reading。 Each daily reading is about 2-3 pages。 Each has the following format: Chapter Title, italicized Scripture quote, the "body", and a "Ready to go Deeper?" section at the end with recommendations for further scripture to read and/or some questions as food for thought and reflection。 189 pages in total (content minus credits, acknowledgements, etc)。-5/5 Content! Starting off with the basics: this is written in a conversational tone。 It feels very much like a sister or friend is speaking to you。 Thus, it is informal and simple。 It has some clean slang and colloquialisms。 I find these make it enjoyable to read。 It is an EASY read。 Language is not complicated; it flows。 I think it is appropriate for a wide range of ages due to this。 I would say 11+。 With the audience geared toward girls and women。 I am 27 and I love it。 I have never had a devotional before so the content is new for me。 The content itself is relatable。 I would say it is especially relatable for teens, but the themes address concerns that every woman has had at some point (all the nitty gritties that linger at the back of your mind, including self-consciousness)。 The writers address it and are very comforting in reassuring the reader than many people face similar problems。 They offer you a pathway to think about how to face these problems。 A lot of reassurance points you back to Scripture, the Lord, and God and what they say about it, and what they say that should make you re-think panicking or stressing about things! -YES, Recommended! I highly recommend this for any lady。 You do not have to be very religious or educated in the Bible to read this。 While they state in the beginning that this should not replace your own usual Bible study and other practices (it should be in partnership with), I think if you are curious about Christianity, new to Christianity, or getting back into Christianity and your knowledge of Scripture is on the low end, you will LOVE this。 It will not overwhelm you。 You can begin with this, see how you feel, and go from there。 I am getting back into Scripture and this devotional helps me incorporate God into my busy day。 I read, reflect, dig deeper by searching the verses they recommend at the end, and then meditate on it and pray。 The whole process can take you 10 minutes or more, if you'd like。 If you're a busy person, you'll enjoy this devotional。 I promise you won't regret using it as a tool for "me" time。 It makes your "me" time purposeful and spiritual。 -5/5 Giftable。 A great gift for a teen and up。 [I did receive this book for free and was invited to review it。 I give my review with 100% honesty。] 。。。more

Girl Defined in itself is such a blessing of a ministry and when I heard they were writing a devotional, I just had to have it! When I finally received the book and cracked it open, I was not only astounded by its physical beauty, but also the beauty of the content inside。Here's what I love about it:First, it's divided by day so you know where to start and where you left off。Second, it always points back to scripture and gives you questions or a Bible study method to use for deeper study。Third, Girl Defined in itself is such a blessing of a ministry and when I heard they were writing a devotional, I just had to have it! A MUST-read !! I found tremendous encouragement to live out my faith in Christ in an effective manner and SHINE brighter in the midst of an increasingly darker world。 Kristen & Bethany share their wisdom and insight from a practical, sister-relatable perspective— their love for Jesus and younger sisters in Christ permeates the pages of this devotional。

No matter what stage you are at on your walk with God, this book is for you!I've read devotionals that try to supplant the Bible。 This devotional is not one of them。 Instead, Kristen and Bethany really encourage on every page to go to God's word ourselves and dig deeper into the truths they share that they have learned and gleaned from the Bible。 Every woman would benefit from this resource to cultivate a grace-based habit of listening to God through the Word He provided。So some of you original launch team members may have received this comment on your Goodreads review。 The review she left of the book explains her assumption that she was kicked out of the launch team because she wouldn’t give a 5 star review。 What’s worse is that she spammed nearly every 5 star review on Goodreads with this message, insisting that we tell everyone that our positive reviews were coerced。While it was true that the difficult decision was made to remove a team member, this was done out of concern that she was not honoring community guidelines and had hostile motives in joining the launch team。 Unfortunately, this seems to be proven true by the review she left of the bookTo address her comment, you are not required to identify yourself as a member of the launch team in your review。 However, you are highly encouraged to state that you received a free copy from the publisher for the purpose of reviewing it。 You are also not required or coerced in any way to give a five star review。 We want your reviews to be honest。 *I received a copy of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review。 。。。more

Overall this has been the best of, Kristen’s and Bethany’s books。The short format, works very well for the writing style。I think it’s straight to the point without wondering, no endless metaphors。 Which, was really nice to see from both of them。The book itself is easier, to read, in the past, they’ve been sort of harder to read。 with my dyslexia, this one is a lot easier。It’s also a gorgeous cover, gorgeous inside, the whole book is simply gorgeous。 props to the designer。Now let’s talk about the Overall this has been the best of, Kristen’s and Bethany’s books。The short format, works very well for the writing style。I think it’s straight to the point without wondering, no endless metaphors。 Which, was really nice to see from both of them。The book itself is easier, to read, in the past, they’ve been sort of harder to read。 with my dyslexia, this one is a lot easier。It’s also a gorgeous cover, gorgeous inside, the whole book is simply gorgeous。 props to the designer。Now let’s talk about the drawbacks。The amount of times that Kristen and Bethany both mention something to do with their ministry。 Is will exhaustive and offputting。There’s barely a chapter/day where they’re not mentioning, their ministry the sisterhood, or the girl defined sisterhood,Often times directly saying go to our website, read are blogs, subscribe to are content。I get that you want to promote, yourself but you don’t need, to do it in every page, of your book。 trust me I get that ,self-promotion is a huge, part of the social media job。 This is excessive,Overall this is nice, The short format works really well。 I hope they write more stuff like this。Glad to pick up a copy。I was in this book for review I am on Book  to launch team all opinions are my own 。。。more
